After reading the interview please go to the message board and post some thoughts, or questions you would like Evan to answer next time I talk to him.

1) Popularity- I think the most important what are yours (and Mongoose's) plans on how to make this sport grow.

We can increase the sport of all-terrain boarding in only one way, increasing rider participation in the sport. When Mongoose sells an ATB or MBS does or Terra does or Severe or Turfboard, this is awesome for the sport of ATB riding. Every all-terrain board seen under the feet of a capable rider can potentially sell six more boards via word of mouth and sight of eye of other riders who'll cross over from snowboarding, skateboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, BMX, Mt biking, windsurfing, in line skating, skiing and every other outdoors action sport.

Mongoose offers the widest variety of models to suit the widest variety of riders at the lowest prices and through the broadest channels of distribution possible.

We are working tirelessly to get ATB programs at ski resorts which will turn on the maximum amount of snowboarders and serve to instruct people in the correct riding technique through ATB education programs at resorts.

2) Technical-What will we see in the next 3 years? Improvements in boards, concepts, weight reduction. How will the boards get better as development gets more experience?

To improve existing ATB designs is easily don; we are constantly researching new designs that are lighter weight, stronger construction and increased performance. Most of our research and development concepts are top secret but I can divulge that we will soon introduce a composite deck on Unibody style boards that increases strength and flexibility.

What are some of the major road blocks from the past and future in development?

Roadblocks are mostly financial as to make dramatic changes to designs involves tooling and mold charges that are very costly. There are also intellectual property rights issues (patents) that can be very expensive to prosecute (get protection through the US Patent and Trademark Office)

3) Future-Where do you see the sport in 5 years? The sport will be half as big as snowboarding in five years with several million participants worldwide and hundreds of ski resort offering ATB programs for the dry land seasons.

How big will ATBing get? Presently snowboarding is a $1 Billion dollar per year industry (boards, boots, binding and softgoods combined). ATB riding will eventually reach these levels, it'll take almost ten years from now but snowboarding reached these numbers and snow is required, as is a chairlift, mountain ski resort, lift ticket, travel to a resort, etc.-To engage in ATB riding all one needs is a board-there are fewer weather, geographical and season constraints on our sport.

What new companies will come out i.e(K2, burton, etc.)?

It is true that these companies could enter the ATB business at any moment-we invite them too as we want our sport to grow as big as possible.

Evan Lipstein
